  • Tuesdays | Jul. 21 - Sept. 1 | 6 - 8:30 PM

We will take things a step further in this class by sewing a *classic sheath dress. I call it “a blueprint for understanding your pattern size and adjustments” for future projects. You will reinforce your experience with darts, zippers, along with learning how to set-in sleeves with the option of adding a lining. This classic sheath pattern is also ideal as a base for creating other patterns. Also included in this class, we will incorporate more advanced garment construction. Based on skill level, you will learn to sew a blouse or shirt using Butterick 6753 or Butterick 6846 first. Next, we move on to sew a jacket or basic pants.

What you will learn: Pattern adjustments

  • Collars

  • Setting sleeves

  • Buttonholes and buttons

  • Seam finishing

  • Proper interfacing use

Note: no class Monday Aug. 10 and Tuesday Aug. 11

PLEASE NOTE: This class is also a great refresher if you have been sewing for awhile but you haven’t set sleeves, need more experience with garment construction, would like to feel more comfortable following a pattern or understanding the directions.

*During the first session if you’re making the sheath dress , shirt or blouse measurements will be taken, and the properly sized pattern will be available for purchase. Note : if you’ve completed the classic sheath dress the instructor will discuss with you what your next suitable project should be..
